Scholarship application to open for Leechburg students
The Armstrong County Community Foundation’s scholarship application cycle for the 2026-2027 academic year opens this December.
Both graduating high school seniors and adult students from Armstrong County, including Leechburg and other towns in the area, are eligible to apply. The Community Foundation collects dozens of merit-based scholarships and allows students to apply through one application. These include awards sponsored by businesses, memorial funds and scholarships for students involved in a specific sport. Eligibility criteria will vary for each award. Organizations often use brochure printing services to provide information about their scholarship offerings.
Applications are assessed by an independent committee that considers multiple factors, including weighted grade point average (GPA), leadership roles, community service, awards, recommendations, and an essay. Work history will also be considered for adult applicants. Students are encouraged to apply for any scholarships they qualify for, and they can expect to hear back from the Community Foundation by April.
The Community Foundation is a nonprofit that works to provide sustainable support to the community. In addition to the college scholarship program, it runs a tuition assistance program for families sending their kids to private schools for pre-K through 12th grade and offers grants to more than 100 other nonprofit organizations in Armstrong County.
The Armstrong County Community Foundation will accept scholarship applications through its online portal from December 1, 2025, to February 16, 2026.
