Leechburg to host community celebration and fundraiser
The annual Pink Day Celebration and Fundraiser is returning to Leechburg this September.
Pink Day takes place on Leechburg’s Market Street and features vendors, entertainment, raffles, and kids’ activities. These will include a selection of food vendors and more than 100 product sellers and representatives from local organizations. The three blocks around Market Street will be closed to cars during the celebration. The music schedule includes Ms. Freddye Stover & her Blues Band at 11:30 am, Magic & the Hot Metal Brass at noon, and Joe Patrick & Four on the Floor at 3:30 pm.
Proceeds from Pink Day support the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). The Pink Day nonprofit organization has donated over $170,000 to BCRF since 2021. Gary and Vicki Peterman started the project in 2011 when they were looking for ways to be more involved in the community. They began donating to the BCRF for every sale of a pink hydrangea bush at their garden center. This expanded into the Pink Day event, which has taken place on the third Saturday of September ever since.
Pink Day T-shirts remain available for preorder at the time of writing, but a limited number of extras will be available on the day of the event. Organizers often use graphic design services to create event-specific shirts.
Leechburg’s 14th Annual Pink Day will take place on Saturday, September 20 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
