The Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek is hosting its annual fundraiser this September.
Summer’s Last Fling is a family-friendly event that will include live music, food and beverages, raffles, and a silent auction. Acoustic guitarist Billy Postle will perform for the first hour, and Yachtness Monster Band will take the stage at 7:00 pm. The Armstrong Center for Community Learning, which operates the Outdoor Discovery Center, will also recognize volunteers who have done outstanding work. Steve and Rita Black are being named the Volunteers of the Year, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Crooked Creek Lake is receiving the first Community Champion Award.
Tickets are $25 per adult and $10 for kids ages 5 to 12. Admission is free for kids under five. Attendees can purchase tickets online or get paper tickets in person at the Outdoor Discovery Center. Sponsorships ranging from $50 to $2000 are available. Interested businesses should apply by Friday, August 28. Local organizations often use flyer printing services to advertise their major fundraisers.
Proceeds from the event will support the Outdoor Discovery Center’s programs, which include school field trips, summer camps, educational programs for homeschoolers and conservation initiatives. Last year, it served more than 4,300 people from Leechburg and other neighboring towns.
Summer’s Last Fling will be on Saturday, September 12, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Crooked Creek Lake Recreation Area.
