Armstrong County Outdoor Discovery Center is running a Junior Naturalist Camp for kids this summer.
The three-day camp is designed to be both fun and educational. Certified Pennsylvania Master Naturalists and other nature experts will lead experiences intended to help campers develop their observation skills and practice recording and sharing what they discover. They will also gain experience working in teams. Instructors often use printing services to create handouts for this type of educational program.
Activities will include hiking, making seed mosaics, dissecting owl pellets, making frog egg slime, and visiting local ponds. Students will visit multiple indoor and outdoor locations such as the Outdoor Discovery Center’s animal room and outdoor classroom, and various trails on the Center’s grounds.
Camp is open to kids ages eight to twelve who live anywhere in the area, including Leechburg and other towns in Armstrong County. Parents need to Print and mail in the registration form and a check for the $100 camp fee by June 15. Campers will need to bring a lunch, but two snacks will be provided each day. Each camper will receive a backpack with tools and supplies. These will include a field journal, rain poncho, magnifying glass, and flashlight.
The Armstrong County Junior Naturalist Camp will run from Monday, June 22 to Wednesday, June 24 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
