Leechburg is hosting its 10th Annual Shamrock Shuffle 5K and Fun Walk this March.
The event includes both a chip-timed 5K race and an untimed one-mile fun walk. The 5K is open to both serious and casual runners, as well as walkers who expect to complete the course within one hour. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes, and strollers and dogs on leashes are welcome. Both events start at 10:00 am. Course maps are available on the registration website.
Runners and walkers can sign up online now. The registration fee is $25 for the 5K and $20 for the walk. Kids four and younger can join either event for free. Participants who sign up by March 6 are guaranteed a race T-shirt. Organizers often work with graphic design experts to design race shirts. Swag Bags will also be available for the first 300 participants.
Proceeds from the race will go to Semper Gratus, a nonprofit that supports children with cancer and other illnesses by fundraising for other groups like the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. It has raised more than $500,000 in its 10 years of operations. More than 520 runners and walkers participated in last year’s Shamrock Shuffle.
The Shamrock Shuffle will take place on Saturday, March 21 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon, starting and finishing at the West Leechburg Fire Department Social Hall.
