A historic mansion that has stood empty in Leechburg has been repurposed.
The building once called the Addison House Restaurant & Lounge is now the 1st Street Café, and opens at 6.00am to provide desserts and specialty coffee drinks. Leechburg locals and visitors can stop in and get their day started with something sweet and delicious.
The new café is the passion of Devra Gromley, whose entire family was involved in the renovation. Devra’s husband John, along with Robbie and Justin, their adult sons, renovated two of the mansion’s floors. Addison Leech, the son of David Leech, the city’s founder, once lived in the house.
Devra says she’s had fun working on the three-year project, which gives people a place to go when most other establishments are closed on Sunday and Monday. Although the menu is limited for now, with Devra acting as both barista and baker, she has plans to expand as she hires more staff.
The current drink menu includes hot chocolate, specialty coffees and teas, espresso, lattes, and drip coffee. Devra sources the coffee beans she uses from a local roaster, 19 Coffee Company in Pittsburgh. Her baked goods include cinnamon rolls, muffins, and her signature cookie, a chocolate chip salted caramel creation.
Although she is only serving drinks and desserts currently, the airy dining room has space for 80 patrons. New businesses like this will frequently work with printers to create official Business Cards to hand out to potential customers.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards
