Young people interested in acting or curious about the theater have a chance to learn more this summer.
The Freeport Theatre Festival in Leechburg is inviting 10 young people to participate in a week-long workshop. During this time, they will develop some basic acting skills and take part in a show, all while enjoying a spirit of fair play and fun. Organizers of events like this can use brochure printing to create basic course materials.
The Freeport Theatre Festival was founded to bring theater to rural residents in a respectful manner, at a price they can afford. The festival founders, Marushka and Rennick Steele, wanted to present entertaining plays that lift the spirit, as well as giving young people in the area a chance to see what working on a different kind of “team” is like.
Marushka graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, while Rennick learned his craft at the renowned Circle in the Square. The course instructors, Courtney Riffer and Jennifer Bronder, are credentialed.
The Junior Drama Camp: Introduction to Theatre workshop is limited to 10 youngsters ages 8 through 12, and no experience is needed. The tuition for the course is $150, although there are scholarships available. Since there are only 10 spots, anyone interested should apply now.
The sessions begin June 19 and end June 23, with daily sessions from 8:30 am until 11:30 am. Freeport Theatre Festival is at 2498 White Cloud Road in Leechburg.
