A series of volunteer events will be held in Tigard to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr this month.
Flyer printing is often used to promote such community service events.
The weekend of events will start with an Egg Hunt Prep at Tigard City Hall. Volunteers will gather at City Hall to fill plastic eggs to prepare for the Egg Hunt later in the year. This activity will take place on Saturday, January 14 from 9:00 to 10:00 am. Later that day, volunteers will be on Hall Boulevard to clean up garbage along the sidewalk between Durham and Burnham Streets.
Ivy Removal at Cook Park will take place the next day from 10:00 am to noon. Volunteers will be pulling ivy away from unpaved trailing in Cook Park. In the afternoon, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, volunteers will work with the Tualatin Riverkeepers to place bark dust on the trails at the Dirksen Nature Park. The last event of the day will be cleaning up Main Street with the Tigard Youth Advisory Council from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
On Monday, January 16, which is Martin Luther King Day, volunteers will be assisting Packed with Pride by packing food Boxes. This will take place from 9:00 am to noon at Tigard High School. The last activity will be planting a tree at Cook Park, along with other park maintenance, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm.
