A total of $10,000 has been voted by the Tigard City Council to address food instability in the community of Tigard.
Packed with Pride will receive these funds as a match to donations from the community and businesses, up to the amount of $10,000. The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools organizes this programs that supports families and students and partners with the Oregon Food Bank and the school district.
Mayor Yi-Kang Hu expressed pride in the City Council for addressing this need in the community. Mayor Hu said that no one is the community should have to be concerned about where they will get their next meal and knows that the community will offer its support to ensure every family has what it needs.
Families, individuals, organizations, and businesses, are invited by the city to donate to a community service organization to support food stability at this time. Poster printing provides a means for informing the community of such monetary matches that can encourage the community to make donations.
Emily Tritsch, acting city manager, said that everyone benefits when the community comes together to offer their support. She added that this is an ideal opportunity for providing help to those in need.
Every dollar of the donations that Packed with Pride receives in November will be matched by the city until Thursday November 20.
