Library in Tigard to temporarily relocate
The operations of the Tigard Public Library will move to a temporary location at City Hall starting in early February. This is to accommodate a more intensive phase of the construction of a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
The HVAC system of the library has been operating for over 20 years and is reaching its end of life. The team of the city of Tigard Public Works is replacing the HVAC system with a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly system.
The roof of the library will be the location of a new chiller unit the size of a semi-truck and then it will need to be connected to the duct system of the library. This will require the shutting down of the HVAC for 12 weeks such that the library building will be closed.
Express level services for the community will be provided by the library for the community while the building is closed at Tigard City Hall and other partner locations in the community. The community can be informed of such planned projects and kept abreast of their progress through various printing services.
The library has expressed its gratitude to those on the team at the Public Works Department for managing this project and investing in a new system that will ensure the building is more comfortable and efficient for many years to come.
