What's Happening in Tigard, OR…

Ground has been broken in Tigard on a dock project at Cook Park. This will be ADA-compliant with a new dock with accessible features.

Rick Gruen, Staff Liaison for Tigard Parks and Recreation, said that there will be two parts to the current phase of construction. These will be fabrication of the dock and preparation of the site, which will take place at the same time. Gruen said that the site will be prepared by the site contractor so the gangway and dock can be accepted.

Gruen added that construction of the new accessible dock will take substantial work. Access to the boat launch by vehicles is closed until the project is finished. While the site is prepared for the gangway, dock, and path from the parking lot, the new structure will be built by the contractors and will include adaptive hardware and a kayak/paddleboard slip.

The dock, which will be 28 feet long and 28 feet wide, will have a low profile, transfer platforms, and adaptive hardware to improve accessibility. A gangway which will be 100 feet in length will connect it to the shore.

Banner printing can be used at such sites to inform residents of such projects that are underway.

This project is expected to cost $1.7 million and to be completed in late fall or early spring of 2027.
