New city manager leads Tigard

Brian Rager is the new City Manager of Tigard.

In this role he will support the goals of the City Council, oversee the services of the city, and work with the staff and partners in the community to advance the vision of the city for a welcoming, safe, and well-connected community.

Rager has served the city for over 30 years and brings a deep understanding of the operations, community priorities, and the importance of responsive local government to the city. During his time serving the city. He has earned the respect and trust of many through his hard work, dedication, and commitment to the community. He has held a variety of roles including director of public works and most recently as acting city manager.

Yi-Kang Hu, mayor of Tigard, said that Rager brings both steady leadership and institutional knowledge at a time that is important for Tigard.

A months-long recruitment process that was led by Prothman Consulting and the Tigard City Council led to Rager’s selection. There were opportunities for input from the staff and the community, many rounds of candidate interviews, and careful consideration of the leadership style. Experience, and values needed to serve the city in this role.
