Tigard opens applications for community event grant program

The Transient Lodging Tax has provided additional funding for grants creating opportunities for community events in Tigard. Those interested in holding such events need to apply to the city for funding.

These events are designed to promote tourism or attract visitors to the area. In addition, this is a unique chance for funding that falls outside of the regular Fiscal Year Grant Budget Cycle of the city. Grants are available in amounts of $5,000 or $10,000.

Those submitting proposals for grants need to be a non-profit organization or business. The event itself needs to be within the limits of the city, and should draw in those who live outside of a radius of 50 miles of the city. A budget outlining how the funds will be spent and a statement of how the event will benefit the Tigard community will also need to be included in the proposal. Those who receive grants also need to recognize the city of Tigard as a sponsor of the event in all sponsorship-related materials.

Poster printing can be used throughout a city to garner interest from eligible organizations to apply for special funding opportunities like this.

This grant cycle will not require applicants to make a presentation of their proposal, as all information required should be in the proposal itself. Applications are due by Sunday, November 1.
