Tigard to further develop existing neighborhood

The Town Center Development Agency of the city of Tigard is in the process of finding developers who are interested in building a mix of retail and housing on the site of the former cinema complex of Regal Tigard 11.

This site spans 11 acres. A park will also be created on the site once the development is completed. Such sites can benefit from banner printing to inform residents of such planned developments.

The planning of this site is a significant part of the development of the Tigard Triangle district. This will be an area of 550 acres bound by Interstate 5, Highway 217, and Highway 99W. The property of the former cinema is near the Costco Wholesale in the district. There have been significant retail offerings in the Tigard Triangle, but residential development has been favored in recent years.

The primary goals of the city for the area are to establish the first neighborhood park in the Tigard Triangle; restore Red Rock Creek, which flows through the property; and increase pedestrian safety and connectivity with improvements to Red Rock Creek Trail as well as new and rebuilt sidewalks and roads.

Sean Farrelly, redevelopment manager, said the city is looking for developers who can recommend how to reuse the land commercially and create a mixed income, mixed use walkable community that would encourage even more development.
