New indoor pickleball court to open in Tigard
Pickleball Kingdom, the first indoor pickleball court in Tigard, will soon be open to the public.
The facility is in what was once a Bed Bath & Beyond store on S.W. 72nd Avenure. It spans 42,000 square feet and will have 12 courts on the main floor and one upstairs, each one 30 feet by 60 feet. It will also feature two dink walls for practicing, cornhole, ping pong, and an upstairs lounge. There is also a community room to host birthday parties and other events, and a pro shop that sells balls, paddles, and other items.
President of Pickleball Kingdom Oregon, Gunn Robinson, said that all the courts are individually fenced. He also expressed his excitement about the opening of this facility.
Robinson said a main feature of the facility is indirect lighting, meaning that if players look up, a center court light will not dazzle them. He added that there is also a camera on each court so that players can see replays of their games and post them on social media. Free Pickleball 101 courses will be offered twice a day for newcomers who want to learn more about the game.
Local print shops can help such new facilities in their promotional efforts with flyers, posters, and brochures with more information about their features and amenities.
Pickleball Kingdom will have a grand opening on Saturday, September 6.
