The Tigard Festival of Balloons is returning in June to Cook Park.
In the early morning hours between 5:45 and 6:15 during the festival, the featured balloons will rise - as long as the weather cooperates. This is followed by tethered rides.
In the afternoon, attendees can shop the vendor and craft booths, eat food from vendors in the area, and enjoy games and carnival rides, which include tried and true family favorites, gentle land rides for kids, and more adventurous rides for thrill seekers.
The evening also features many events including live music on the Main Stage, an action zone for kids, the Rogue Ales Beer Garden, and the Festival of Cars presented by Landmark Ford Lincoln. The highlight of the evening is Night Glow when featured hot air balloons are laid out on the ground in the park, are inflated, and their burners ignited, which creates a colorful show. A full schedule of such activities and offerings is often made available at such events with flyer printing.
The Festival of Balloons is a non-profit organization that also raises funds for many non-profit groups in the city. Among the groups that have benefitted from the festival are the Tigard/Tualatin Area Relay for Life, Foundation for Tigard-Tualatin School, the Tigard Breakfast and Tigard Lunch Rotaries, and Mountain Wave Search and Rescue.
The festival will be held from Friday June 24 through Sunday June 26.
