Tigard to become home for coffee chain

Ava Roasteria will be locating its corporate headquarters and its newest shop in a what was once a brownfield site on Main Street in Tigard. The project will also create apartments in a large mixed-use building four stories high.

The property has been purchased from the Town Center Development Agency of Tigard by Ava Tigard Development LLC for the price of $390,000. The city originally bought the property in 2015 and then spent the next two years cleaning up the site. It was considered a brownfield, which is a site whose soil has contamination the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires to be removed or contained.

The location on Main Street will house the headquarters for Ava Roasteria, its coffee shop and café, and serve as the central baking and roasting facility for the company. There will also be office space, commercial space on the ground floor for rent, and 22 apartments with a deck overlooking Fanno Creek that will be open to the public. Print shops can be used to create Flyers and other materials explaining the many uses of the site.

Principle of AVA Tigard Development, Amy Saberiyan, thanked the city for its patience and support for this project and sharing the company’s vision for developing brownfields into viable businesses and creating many jobs in the community.

The project will get underway this spring.
