Tigard theatre plans updates and additions

The Broadway Rose Theatre Company in Tigard is planning an expansion expected to cost $3m.

The expansion will include an enlarged scenic shop; a costume shop that will be part of the theatre; new studio space for camps, rehearsals, and workshops; and administrative offices for an increasing number of staff. There will also be an audiovisual system for the use of events and by the community in general and elevator access to the second floor. Director of development, deShauna Jones, said the shop area will double in size and the new studio space will make the theatre more accessible for community and civic organizations.

Flyer printing is often used to make the community aware of such announcements and the benefits for them.

Managing Director of Broadway Rose, Dan Murphy, expressed his excitement about these improvements, which will enable the theatre company to run everything under one roof. A 30-year lease that was signed with Tigard-Tualatin School District for its regular meetings and the company’s ability to sell close to 52,000 tickets this past season have led to the need for this expansion. The Tigard Chamber of Commerce also meets at the theatre several times a year.

Murphy said the construction will not affect any shows or programs currently planned. This expansion is planned to be completed by October 2020.
