Tigard stage hosts musical fable of Broadway

“Guys and Dolls” is currently playing at the Deb Fennell Auditorium in Tigard as part of the 2018 “Season of Irresistible Fun” of the Broadway Rose Theatre Company.

The story and characters of Damon Runyon make for an evening of old-fashioned Broadway fun. Attendees will sing along to the favorites of the show, including “Luck Be A Lady,” “If I Were A Bell,” and “Sir Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat.” Frank Loesser wrote the music and lyrics and Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows wrote the book for the musical.

Sharon Maroney directs this production by Broadway Rose and Jeffrey Childs provides the music direction. Ryan Reilly portrays Sky Masterson, Joe Theissen plays Nathan Detroit, Emily Sahler is Miss Adelaide, and Dru Rutledge portrays Sarah Brown. Among the supporting cast are Brandon B. Weaver as Nicely-Nicely, Dan Murphy as Arvide Abernathy, Margo Schembre as General Cartwright, and Mike Dederian as Lieutenant Brannigan.

The show runs through August 19. This week, evening performances will be Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office at the auditorium in Tigard.
