Donating blood can be a lifesaving gift to others, and Tigard will be hosting a donor drive where the public can make this precious contribution.
According to the American Red Cross, many people are eligible to make a donation, and it is in need of booth blood and platelets to meet the needs of the population. Those who are interested are asked to bring along their identification, such as a donor card, driver’s license, or other document that confirms their identity. Once they have completed their registration, the process of giving blood usually takes between eight and ten minutes, and they can even book their spot ahead of time, which can streamline the whole activity and get them back to the rest of their day more quickly.
After someone gives blood, they are advised to make sure they have plenty to drink and avoid strenuous exercise or lifting heavy objects for the rest of the day. The donations will be used for everything from transfusions to treating those who have clotting disorders, cancer, immune system issues, severe anemia, and more. Those who plan an event like this can use postcard printing to craft reminders that can be sent out to people in the community who have previously given blood that ask them to be generous once again.
The donation drive will take place in the Tigard City Library on March 15 from 9:00 am until 2:30 pm. Anyone who is interested in preregistering or finding out more about the importance of giving blood is asked to visit the American Red Cross’ website.
