Tigard looks to build new facility for police and public works

A contract with Otak, Inc. has been approved by the Tigard City Council, meaning Otak will serve as the project director for the “Building a Beter Tigard” initiative.

The project will focus on designing and building a facility that will house the public works and police departments of Tigard. The new facility will replace the overcrowded, scattered, and outdated locations that now accommodate essential equipment and personnel. With more centralized operations, the facility will ensure more reliable access to critical resources, improve efficiency, and maintain important services during emergencies.

The city recently acquired 9.5 acres on SW Wall Street where the new facility will be built. It will bring together nine worksites, all of which are in need of modernization and centralization, to prepare the city for future needs and growth.

The project will be led by Dave Lintz from Otak, which has been successful in managing complex construction projects and will guide the project through all its phases. The project team will now concentrate on the architectural and engineering design of the facility. The city will be engaging the public through this phase to ensure the facility meets the needs of the community.
