The Emergency Management Services Coordinator of Tigard, Mike Lueck, has been named the Public Sector Emergency Management Professional of the Year.
The Oregon Emergency Management Association bestowed this honor upon Lueck. Announcements of such accomplishments by a city employee are often made known throughout the community through techniques such as poster printing.
Lueck has been working for the city for close to 20 years and has exemplified exceptional commitment and leadership to the field of emergency management. He has worked tirelessly to contribute to both the profession of emergency management and to the Oregon Emergency Management Association. He has enhanced emergency preparation and response efforts within the city.
He has also collaborated with private entities, public agencies, and non-governmental organizations to host a Tigard Community Preparedness Fair held every year. This demonstrates his commitment to fostering a strong community.
Lueck has been the co-chair of the Disabilities Emergency Management Advisory Committee. Furthermore, he has advocated for the inclusion of diverse opinions and perspectives in strategizing emergency management techniques not just in Tigard, but across the entire state, and has consistently pushed for a more inclusive approach. He has also been President, West Side Representative, and Operations Section Chief on the conference planning committee of the Oregon Emergency Management Association during the past 12 years.
During his free time, Lueck volunteers for various organizations involved in community well-being and public safety.
