Recently, the Portland Clinic’s Alberty Surgical Center provided Oregon House Speaker Tina Kotek with a tour of its facility, where a representative spoke with her about issues faced by the ambulatory surgery center (ASC).
Escorting the speaker on her tour were the Portland Clinic Surgery Center director, the CEO of the Portland Clinic, and one of its orthopedic surgeons, Dr. Robert Sandmeier. Also along on the tour was the associate executive director of the Oregon Ambulatory Surgery Center Association (OASCA). Dr. Sandmeier was the OASCA’s 2015 Physician Leader of the Year award recipient. Also in attendance was NW Grassroots and Communication’s lobbyist and president, Doug Riggs.
Among the matters discussed with Kotek were the Surgical Center’s increasing efficiency, low infection rates, and success in maintaining a high level of physician and patient satisfaction. To gaining political as well as financial support, custom Presentation Folders may be printed for public servants and potential donors to read at their leisure after an in-person presentation.
The OASCA, with a core standard of “Our Patients Come First”, serves as a think tank for ideas and nexus for creative collaboration on matters such as advocacy, education, media relations, and networking. It works to educate Oregon’s legislators on the economic impact and numerous benefits provided to the public by the Oregon Ambulatory Surgery Center.
