Sensory-friendly visit with Santa coming to Tigard

Children and adults alike who are autistic or have another condition that makes attending busy public events difficult have been invited to visit Santa in a specially designed Tigard event.

A sensory-friendly day will be taking place in the city’s Brideport Village, and it will be quiet, calm, and relaxed. It will give children and adults a chance to enjoy their time with the jolly character in an environment that will not be overstimulating, and Santa will be able interact with the children on their terms.

While the event has been organized for those who have difficulties when there is too much noise, large crowds, or bright lights, siblings and the rest of the family are welcome to enjoy the experience too. Each group will have its own timeslot that will be just for them, and photos will be taken of the occasion. Parents or caregivers can choose to order a photo package should they wish to do so, but this is not required. Banners and other festive decorations for a function like this can be prepared by a local printer.

The Santa Cares morning has been planned for December 3, and it will begin at 9:00 am. Any families that would like to participate are asked to visit its Eventbrite listing for additional details and to book their slot.
