As construction on the Iron Mountain Park project in Lake Oswego is almost completed, the Advisory Board of the Lake Oswego Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources has moved forward with the next and final step of the project.
The alignment, which is a loop trail measuring a mile long, will connect the new development in both directions. Ivan Anderholm, Parks Director, told PamplinMedia.com that this trail will have a soft surface, will be about 24 to 36 inches wide, and will open throughout the year. He added that it will create a pleasant walking and running loop within the park.
The cost of the trail is expected to be just under $80,000. Residents of Tigard may be interested in the park and its amenities once it is finished. Printing services are often used to create maps and guides of such trials for visitors.
The park will cover about 6.5 acres and will include a natural play area for children, a picnic shelter area, a parking lot, and a new stream to improve water quality. The stream relocates the old stream, and its bed, which winds through the park to the base of the slope at Iron Mountain, will create a better riparian and aquatic habitat.
The project is expected to be completed by the middle of this month.
