New coffee shop to open near Tigard

The Morse Coffee Company, a specialty coffee shop that is locally owned, will be opening a new location in Lake Oswego next year on First Street. Residents of Tigard will want to patronize this shop, which is set to have an artistic flair.

The shop is owned by Sam Morse and his father David from Portland, along with David’s son-in-law, Jeremy Arezzini. Arezzini said the area needed a specialty coffee shop and that Sam’s expertise has been the motivation for opening up such a shop.

Sam said the shop will be offering coffee, using local beans from Portland. He added that he plans to start with grad and go items and then will listen to customer requests as he expands on the concept. Eventually he plans to have indoor dining. David said that among the renovations to the space will be new plumbing and electrical work and a new floor.

Also an artist, Sam feels that having art in Lake Oswego is important. He plans to have a gallery of artwork on the walls of the shop that will feature the work of local artists on a rotating basis. Poster printing is often used to promote such artwork and any special exhibits.

Sam is hoping to open the shop on Thursday January 14 and the latest by Sunday February 14 if there are construction delays.
