A new affordable senior housing project will be built next to the Tigard Senior Center in Tigard.
To be known as the Alongside Senior Housing project, the project will be built on a piece of property owned by the City of Tigard. This location is close to several bus lines, the Tigard Public Library, the Fanno Creek Trail, and downtown Tigard. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform the community of such upcoming projects.
It will be a building four stories high with 58 housing units which will be made affordable for seniors 62 years of age and older and lower-income residents with priorities for seniors with disabilities and veterans. There will 48 existing parking spaces made available in the Senior Center for residents of the project to be able to use. In addition, TriMet will be offering passes to residents and will provide frequent trips in vans to recreation destination and local shopping.
The project is a partnership with Northwest Housing Alternatives (NHA) which will develop the project. The agreement reached with the City Council is that NHA will have a no-cost lease and owe $1.00 per year to the city for 99 years.
Construction on the Alongside Senior Housing project is expected to begin in November of this year and be completed by January 2023. Residents could move in potentially between January to June of 2023.
