This year, there will be virtual visits with Santa Claus hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Lake Oswego. Families in Tigard may be interested in signing up for one of these visits.
These will be one-on-one sessions lasting for 10 minutes. President of the Kiwanis Club of Lake Oswego, Joyce Handa, said that she and other members of the club were trying to determine how to follow current safety protocols while still supporting disadvantaged children in the area. Handa said they eventually decided on a virtual fundraising event that will enable children to feel that they have not been forgotten by Santa Claus. Handa added that it is important at this time, in spite of the limits on group activities and social gatherings, that there be some type of normal events during the holiday season.
Flyer printing is often used to promote these types of events and their fundraising efforts throughout the community.
Each visit with Santa will cost $20 and can be reserved on a first come, first served basis. Proceeds from the visits will go towards the youth programs for underserved children at the Oak Creek and River Grove Elementary Schools, as well as homeless children in the school district of Lake Oswego.
The visits will be held on Saturday, December 5 and Sunday, December 6.
