Legacy burger restaurant to come to Tigard

Mike’s Drive-In, a classic burger eatery, will be adding a new location in Tigard.

The eatery has shops in Oregon City and Milwaukie, and has been in the Portland area since 1971 when it was founded by Mike Martin. The operations manager for the shop, Todd Freeman, said that several locations were explored before the decision was made to locate in Tigard. Freeman purchased Mike’s Drive-in in 1983. He said that many people had requested for the eatery to open in Tigard, and lease availability, traffic flow, and the support of community were all factors in this decision.

The menu at Mike’s Drive-In features 10 different types of fresh, made-to-order burgers, hot sandwiches, over 30 flavors of milkshakes made with fresh fruit, fresh-cut halibut, banana splits, and soft-serve ice-cream. Freeman said that Mike’s is known for its milkshakes and all of them are made by hand. Such specialties of the house can be promoted throughout a community with flyer printing.

Freeman expressed his excitement about joining the Tigard community. He said that Mike would be proud of what the eatery has become, as many generations of patrons are still enjoying their burgers and milkshakes at Mike’s.

Mike’s Drive-In will be on SW Pacific Highway. A grand opening is scheduled for May. It will include raffles and giveaways, burger specials, and prizes throughout the day.
