Festival of the harvest to be held in Tigard

A community garden of harvest, also known as the Fall Festival, will be celebrated by the Rise Church Tigard later this month.

Such celebrations are often promoted throughout the community with poster printing.

The event will begin when the St. Andrews Society Pipe Band is welcomed by Mayor Heidi Lueb and will kick off the celebration. This will be followed with the Glen Tadina Band and musical selections from the Northwest Senior Theatre.

There will also be a preview of “The Game’s Afoot,” which is the fall show of the Mask and Mirror Community Theatre. The Rise gym will have a pickleball demonstration and the Tigard Police and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue will be there, in addition to other groups from the community staffing information tables. Pastor Jim Wallace has alluded to an appearance by Mr. Potato, who is the official mascot of the garden.

Wallace added that the mission of the church is to support the end of food security and hunger in the community. He said their efforts towards this goal include the Tigard Food Project and the Fall Festival, as well as a weekly crop table, the community garden, and strong relationships with food banks in the area.

The Fall Festival will take place from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Saturday, September 21.
