In celebration of Black History Month, the city of Tigard will be hosting its Black History Month Celebration Market and Party.
The city is partnering with the Equity Advisory Committee and The Practice Facility. The theme for the event is African Americans and Labor, and will be an afternoon that will honor the Black community.
Among the features of the event will be tasty food from local vendors; live music and performances, with special performances by DJ Jewler and Cool Nutz; activities that can be enjoyed by people of all ages; opportunities to support and shop at Black-owned businesses; and stories and speeches from leaders in the local community.
The theme of this year’s celebrations of Black History Month focuses on the many and profound ways that work of all kinds, including skilled and unskilled, free and not free, and voluntary and vocational, intersect with the collective experiences of people who are Black. The theme is designed to celebrate and highlight the impact of such work as well as honor community, culture, and resilience.
Such special events are often promoted throughout a city with poster printing.
This event will take place from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Practice Facility on SW 72nd Avenue this Sunday, February 23. The Practice Facility is a training facility offering basketball players an opportunity to improve their skills.
