Beer festival to come to Tigard area

Hillsbrew Fest will be raising glasses in the Tigard area early next year.

The three-day festival will be held at the Wingspan Event and Conference Center at Westside Commons in Hillsboro and is being organized by the creators of the Oregon Brewers Festival. Featured at the festival will be a variety of styles of beer from two cideries and 30 independent craft breweries.

Participating breweries will be from throughout the state, including Eastern and Southern Oregon, the Columbia River Gorge, the metropolitan Portland area, and the Willamette Valley. Officials said that some of the offerings will be brewery favorites, while others will be publicly available for the first time. Such festivals are often an ideal opportunity for brewers to provide more details about their creations with flyer printing, or even give away customized coasters.

Also at the festival will be sales of souvenirs and food vendors, as well as free, handcrafted root beer from Crater Lake Soda. The Denominators, a classic rock and soul band from the Pacific Northwest, will be playing live music.

Those who are interested in volunteering for the festival will receive vouchers for beer, a souvenir tasting mug, and a festival T-shirt. The festival will be on Friday, February 25 and Saturday, February 26 from noon to 9:00 pm, and on Sunday, February 27 from noon to 7:00 pm, and is open to those over the age of 21.
