Major burger chain purchases Portland property

In-N-Out Burger fans may be in for some good news; The Portland Business Journal has reported that the famous burger chain has purchased some prime Portland real estate.

According to The Business Journal, In-N-Out spent $3.3m for the former Tualatin Village Inn location at 1707 S.W. 72nd Ave. The Village Inn, which was across from Bridgeport Village, closed in May of 2020, and the burger chain has been interested in acquiring the property for the last year.

The California-based In-N-Out Burger’s Mike Abbate, who serves as an assistant vice-president of the company’s real estate and development department was posed the question about his company’s plans for upcoming Oregon locations. Abbate’s response was as reported by the Oregonian:

“While we are exploring an opportunity in Hillsboro and others throughout the Portland metro area, it is too early to forecast any specific outcome within those trade areas, as well. We continue to remain hopeful to better serve our Portland area customers in the not-too-distant future.”

Often, the first indication of new restaurants appear to the public in an empty lot and are supplied by banner printing services.

A spokesperson for In-N-Out, Kathleen Luppi, declined to shed light on the specific plans for the Tualatin property. According to Luppi, it is company policy to not speak publicly on its business strategies or divulge financial information.
