Eco-friendly Eileen Fisher brand expands to Portland
Known for simple silhouettes and sustainability, the women’s clothing brand Eileen Fisher has plans to open a branch in Northwest Portland this July.
The brand, headquartered in New York, distinguished itself by designing sleek clothing with simple silhouettes using a sustainable approach. Forty years later the brand’s mission has expanded its eco-friendly approach to include these sustainable practices at each stage in an article of clothing’s life cycle. This includes using recyclable materials and even making art out of damaged clothes.
Local print shops can assist new businesses with among other products and services signage, promotions and banner printing.
The new store’s opening is mid-July in the Nob Hill neighborhood at 907 N.W. 23rd Avenue and will be the second location in Oregon and the 57th nationwide. The Nob Hill store will differ from other locations in the area in that it reportedly will be significantly larger. Another difference is that it will be one of Eileen Fisher’s few “LAB” stores, meaning it will showcase sample styles in addition to curated items from Renew, the brand’s resale program.
Renew was launched by Eileen Fisher in 2009 and grew out of its clothing take-back program. Over two million articles of clothing have been collected and given a new life either from being resold via Renew, donated or repurposed, in some cases as wall hangings or décor items through Waste No More, the brand’s in-house design studio.
