The Hillsboro-based animation studio has once again set its sights on turning the city of Portland into a citywide piece of public art with a new art trail, this time featuring crows.
Much like LAIKA’s 2024 ‘Coraline’s Curious Cat Trail’ was to commemorate the movie Coraline, this year’s art trail is in recognition of studio’s latest film, Wildwood, which is to be released in the near future. Chief marketing and operations officer for LAIKA, David Burke explained:
"Wildwood is deeply rooted in the places and story of Portland, and this art trail gives us a beautiful way to celebrate the film’s themes of adventure, bravery, and community in our hometown."
Custom maps highlighting a city’s various attractions, historic, cultural or culinary are among the many products Print shops can provide.
Dubbed Wildwood: Follow the Crows, this latest art trail is set to launch in early August featuring giant crow statues in Downtown Portland. Residents and visitors alike will be able to explore the trail of crows at their own pace. The 'murders of crows' will be available for viewing through October 31, 2026, after which the sculptures will be auctioned with the proceeds given to the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
The project will be managed by the OHSU with added support being provided by the international Wild in Art organization.
The 3D stop-motion animated film Wildwood is scheduled to be released in theaters October 23, 2026.
