Stow to help with snow removal for residents

A Snowplow Assistance Program is being offered by the city of Stow for the upcoming winter.

Residents who are 65 years of age and older or are disabled and who meet the guidelines of income can receive free sidewalk and driveway snow removal. Those who are eligible can apply for this service by picking up an application at City Hall or downloading it from the city’s website. The Snowplow Assistance Program is available on a first-come first-serve basis.

Poster printing can be used throughout a city to inform eligible residents of such valuable programs.

Student volunteers from Stow-Munroe Falls High School will clear the sidewalks for those participating in the program. Sidewalks need to be parallel to the road. A path will be cleared from the house to driveway if residents have a detached garage. This service will take place when the amount of snow is greater than four inches for a maximum of six snowfalls during the winter.

Participants can also have their driveway lowed up to six times during the winter from Saturday November 15 through Tuesday March 31. To get their driveway plowed, participants will need to call the contractor, date and sign a voucher, and place it in their door closest to the driveway or their front screen door so the snowplow driver can pick it up.

This program is open until it has reached its budgeted capacity.
