What's Happening in Stow, OH…

Stow joins holiday tree festival

The Urban Forestry Commission of the city of Stow will be participating in the annual Holiday Tree Festival that supports Akron Children's Hospital.

The tree at the festival will highlight the commitment of the city to responsible tree management, environmental sustainability, and a healthy canopy of trees in Summit County and the state of Ohio. Petitti’s Garden Center of Oakwood will be donating the tree and Suncrest Garden Center of Peninsula will be providing some special ornaments.

People can participate in this event by purchasing an ornament for the tree. There is a pre-approved list of ornaments on Amazon that includes such ornaments as a Kurt Adler 11-inch natural star with pinecones treetop, Arborist Christmas ornaments, Aspen leaf ornaments, and plush animal ornaments. Flyer printing can be used to promote such events and provide more details on how to purchase needed ornaments.

Those purchasing ornaments should have them shipped to their homes and then bring them to the Stow City Center Lobby between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday up until Friday, October 25.

The Urban Forestry Commission is made up of volunteer residents of Stow who are appointed to a term of five years by the mayor and then confirmed by the City Council.

The Holiday Tree Festival will be held from Friday, November 15 through Sunday, November 24 at the John S. Knight Center.
