The city of Stow, in collaboration with Western Reserve Hospital, is offering free Yard Signs for veterans to display, acknowledging their service in time for the upcoming Veterans Day holiday.
Veterans can stop by City Hall on Darrow Road between now and the holiday to pick up a sign. Those who want to honor a veteran can also get a sign for their yard. Those veterans and residents who want a sign but are not able to attend City Hall can call and have a sign delivered. The hours for City Hall are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Informing the community of the availability of such Signs can be made known with poster printing and other printing services.
Mayor John Pribonic said that this holiday provides an opportunity to reflect on the importance of peace. He said that while many think of the military in the context of war, many veterans say they risked their lives to defend the fundamental freedoms of this country and they do so because they value peace. He added that Veterans Day encourages everyone to reflect on the value of goodwill and friendship in our daily lives.
Veterans Day is observed every year on November 11 and honors those who have served in the country’s armed forces on the anniversary of the end of World War I.
