When Hudson Players present ‘Seussical’ this month, many of the cast members will be particularly familiar with each other, since the play brings several families together on stage.
The publicity director for the troupe, Dana Herro, noted that there are children on the stage along with their mothers, while other moms are in the costume department. Fathers can be found backstage working on sets, although some of them are on stage as well. Hudson is about five miles from Stow, making for entertainment just a short journey away.
One performer, Holly Reimer from Akron, plays Mayzie LaBird, and will be on stage with her children, Audrey and Charlie. Reimer says she is delighted to be able to perform alongside her children in an event she calls a “once in a lifetime” experience. She notes that the family has bonded even more closely through their work on the play.
Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays from February 6 through February 28. There is one matinee, on February 22. Curtain times for Friday and Saturday shows are 8:00 pm, while the matinee on February 22 begins at 2:00 pm. Also, the performance on February 7 will be interpreted in American Sign Language.
Groups like Hudson Players ofter work with a poster printing company to devise innovative items to advertise the show.
