Jon Meacham, presidential historian and a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, will be speaking at the Presidential Speaker Series of Kent State University next month. Residents of nearby Stow will not want to miss this prominent public American intellectual.
Meacham will provide historical context to the events and issues that impact our lives today and bring a unique perspective as he speaks about civil discourse. Todd Diacon, president of Kent State, said that the university is fortunate to have someone like Meacham to be able to speak to the public. Diacon added that his explorations of political crises and knowledge of history will increase everyone’s understanding of the current activity in American politics today. Meacham is a distinguished visiting professor at Vanderbilt University and has written many national bestselling Books.
Bringing world-renowned and high-profile experts to Kent State for serious, thought-provoking conversations and discussions of the goal of the Kent State Presidential Speaker Series. Previous speakers have included journalist Dan Rather, filmmaker Ken Burns, and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel.
The event will take place the Kent Student Center Ballroom on Wednesday May 4 at 7:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Tickets are required for admission and can be ordered from the university ticket office.
