New planning director selected in Stow

Zack Cowan has been appointed as the new Director of Planning and Development for the city of Stow.

Cowan has been the Deputy Director of Planning for the city since April 2022 and has been responsible for ensuring adherence to the policies and codes of the city and assessing building permits, variance, and rezonings. John Pribonic, the mayor of Stow, said that Cowan has been a valuable member of the department of Planning and Development and has the needed expertise and mindset, adding that the time was right for him to step into this new position.

Cowan expressed his thrill about having the opportunity to serve as the new Director of Planning and Development for the city. Describing it as an “exciting role,” he noted that it will enable him to further contribute to the enhancement and growth of the community, and said he is looking forward to working on initiatives that will shape the future of the city. He added that that he is exciting about collaborating with the City Council, members of the talented team, business owners, and residents to achieve development in an impactful and sustainable way.

Cowan is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in City and Regional Planning.
