Construction season is currently underway in Summit County with the multi-year reconstruction project on Route 8. It will affect part of the highway that traverses Boston Heights, Hudson, Cuyahoga Falls, and Stow.
At a cost of $58.6m, the project starts south of the interchange at Graham Road and ends at the ramp to state Route 303. There will be a two-lane split for northbound traffic. The left lane will take up part of Route 8 going south, while the right lane will use the median lane that has recently been reconstructed. This traffic pattern will be in effect until late October.
There will be several ramps closed on the highway—the off-ramp on Route 8 going north to Steels Corners Road; the on-ramp from Steels Corners Road to Route 8 northbound; and the ramp from Route 8 going north to state Route 303. There will detours posted for those needing to use these exits. Print shops are often hired to create Signs in such instances.
Justin Chesnic, a spokesperson from the Ohio Department of Transportation, said that the mild winter has enabled construction to proceed more quickly so that these ramps may be reopened as soon as April. Once construction on the Steels Corner and Route 8 ramps has been completed, Chesnic said that the ramps at Seasons Road will be closed in May for some short-term work.
