The Great Harvest Bread Company in Stow is giving back to the community with its bread making efforts.
Every Wednesday and Friday, Carl and Nancy May, owners of the store, leave a cart full of honey whole wheat and white loaves of bread outside their store for those in need to come by and take what they need. Print shops may also donate their services to create Signs to attract people to such opportunities. People can also come into the store and donate $5, which covers the cost for a loaf of bread.
The Mays have owned the store for a year make every loaf of bread from scratch. They have already helped hundreds of needy people at this time, as they have already donated more than $1,000 worth of bread.
Nancy May said that she feels she is making a difference in the community as people have come into the store and expressed their appreciation for their bread making efforts. She added that a lot of people come into the store and donate $20, which enables them to make four loaves of bread. Carl May commented about the honesty people have expressed and their openness about their needs, and that they are glad they can make this gift to the community with something they love to make.
