The Licking Springs Golf and Trout Club has a new owner, who plans renovations totaling some $1.4m.
According to a Newark Advocate, Brent Dewey recognizes that the course is famous, but says much of its reputation rests on memories of the past. Dewey plans to take advantage of the tradition found at the club, which is 54 years old, and, at the same time, bring it up to date.
Dewey says that when people think of the ‘Trout Club’, as it is known, they usually reflect that they have not been to visit it in years. He believes the club is a great place that can be made special once again.
Dewey bought the club in August, and has already begun work. Thus far, he has made improvements to the Horns Hill Road entrance, and to the exterior of the clubhouse. He has removed the overgrowth so the landscaping near the clubhouse is visible, and plans to add stone columns, gas lights, a stage for live performances, and a copper-roofed portico.
Next on the list are renovations to the clubhouse interior, including the TC Lounge upstairs, and the Trout Club downstairs. Other changes planned for the property, include putting more trout in the streams, a project which should be finished some time next spring.
Dewey could work with a brochure printing company to create Booklets to place in racks throughout the area, highlighting the changes at the club.Get a Free Quote for Booklets
