Thomas LumberTown changes hands and name

Thomas LumberTown, located in Zanesville, has changed hands and has shortened its name to simply, LumberTown. The lumberyard has been purchased by a Newark native, Jim Cappano. The Zanesville business is about 30 miles southeast of Newark and currently employs 14 individuals. Neither the current employees nor any other aspect of the business is expected to change.

Corley and Ron Thomas, who previously owned the lumberyard, said this was a primary factor in deciding to sell earlier this month. Corley stated:

“He’s got the same trucks and the same people and the same location and the same products. We’re excited that we’ve made the sale, and we’re excited for the new owner, and we’re excited that the current employees all have a future and a job to come in to in the morning.”

When local businesses are sold to new owners, a number of business-related documents will usually need to be altered to reflect changes in name, ownership, or other aspects. Business card printing and Stationery printing are often two printing services that will be needed to establish and announce new ownership of a business.

LumberTown was opened in the 1950s as Ray Thomas LumberTown. When brothers Corley and Ron took it over from their father, the name was shortened to Thomas LumberTown. The original store was located on Frazeyburg Road, but a fire in 1962 prompted Ray Thomas to rebuild the lumberyard at its current location on Dillon Falls Road. New owner Cappano says he does not have any drastic plans for change and is happy with the way the business is currently operating.
