Roads Scholars stop in Newark

An annual traveling seminar that gives participants a chance to meet others and learn from them made a stop in Newark recently.

The Roads Scholars tour takes University of Ohio administrators, faculty members, and community partners through a specific region of Ohio, where they meet community partners and faculty members with whom they are collaborating. They also talk with Ohio State students – both those who are currently enrolled, and those who hope to attend the university.

The tour includes visits to community and business leaders, and others who could become partners in the future. Brochure printing can be used to provide specific information in cases like this.

Among those on the tour this year were Michael V. Drake, MD, the president of Ohio State University, and Bruce McPheron, PhD, the university's provost. They were joined by alumni, staff, faculty, and students, as well as members of the community. McPheron said the tour had reminded him that Ohio is a great state in which to live. Drake agreed, noting that a number of initiatives being taken across Ohio increase the university's impact. McPheron and Drake both noted that the university's regional campuses are of vital importance in fulfilling the university's mission of providing quality education to Ohioans.

Some of the discussions centered on the Newark campus, such as the fact that an increasing enrollment made it possible for the university to add the John and May Alford Center for Science and Technology to the campus.
