Peoples Bank pays it forward

Recently, Peoples Bank held events at its Newark and Heath branches to “Pay It Forward” to honor local heroes. The bank supplied lunch to nine local police and fire stations, as well as a military recruiting office. Peoples Bank also gave a cooler of meat and a gas grill to Fire Station 3 in Newark.

The events were part of what the bank calls its “Peoples Hometown Heroes Banking campaign,” which honors teachers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, law enforcement personnel, and active duty or retired military personnel for their service and dedication to the community.

Members of the public are invited to elect Hometown Heroes via the bank's website. The names need to be submitted by September 2, after which fourteen people, selected at random, will receive plaques, while $500 will be donated to their favorite charity.

Hometown Heroes is a non-profit, nationwide organization founded in 2008 as a grassroots group that can respond quickly to problems at the local level. It seeks to assist anyone, a family or an individual, in a crisis, without regard to gender, age, or ethnicity. Hometown Heroes also offers a fund raising platform for others to use when they cannot undertake these efforts on their own.

Efforts like these can benefit by working with postcard printing companies, which can create Postcards for Mailing, making sure the information is widely disseminated.
