The Newark branch of the Licking County Library will be hosting a discussion in March about the first malaria vaccine.
The World’s First Malaria Vaccine And The 40 Years It Took To Develop is a presentation that is part of the library’s Empowered Minds series. The focus of the series is to enrich those who are retired in Licking County with educational activities. The discussion will teach listeners about mosquitos, malaria, and the troubles involved with developing the first vaccine to combat the disease. The presentation will be held in Meeting Room A at the library.
The speaker who will be giving the presentation is Matt Rouhier, a professor at Kenyon College. Rouhier teaches several classes, such as Methods for Promoting Science Understanding. His areas of expertise include insect biochemistry and photodynamic molecules. The instructor joined Kenyon College in 2013 and has researched mosquito-borne diseases. Presenters like Rouhier can connect with potential venues by offering them Business Cards.
The malaria vaccine presentation will take place on Thursday, March 10 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Those interested in the experience may register for Rouhier’s discussion in advance. Guests may even choose to be reminded about the activity via email or text when registering. All adults may attend the free presentation. The event will only be offered in person at the Downtown Newark library.
