Newark resident Teri Long was born on October 20, which may help to explain why she loves creepy, scary stuff. Long has taken her love of Halloween and its denizens and turned it into a successful small business.
Long’s business is called ‘Long Gone Dolls’, and she takes old, unwanted dolls and turns them into her own creepy creations, such as vampires, clowns, zombies, skeletons, and ventriloquist dummies. She uses paint and clay to turn the dolls into creatures of the night.
The idea came to her when she was decorating for a Halloween party three years ago. She decided to make unsettling dolls as decorations, and discovered a gold mine. Her guests loved the dolls and encouraged her to make more, which made her wonder if other people might like them.
She discovered that people from all over the world wanted her creations, and her company was born. Thus far, she has created more than 2,000 dolls, which she calls “dark art dolls”, and sold them to patrons worldwide.
At present, Long uses dolls she finds or buys inexpensively, but says she would like to get to the point where she is making her own dolls from scratch.
Long might want to work with a postcard printing company on a card for a local Mailing. The card would raise awareness of the business throughout the Newark area.Get a Free Quote for Mailing
