Newark-area residents enjoy 2015 MOPAR Supercruise

The MOPAR Supercruise, an annual event in which motor enthusiasts enjoy cruising and looking at other vehicles, took place in Heath, about three miles from Newark, earlier this month.

According to recent news item, the event was a huge success, with few citations issued. The drivers cruised from Heath to Buckeye Lake, and businesses there saw an increase in profits due to the visitors. Shirley Groseclose, who is a co-owner of a KOA Campground located in Buckeye Lake, said everyone had a good time, and enjoyed showing off their cars.

This year, the route of the cruise was further south than in the past, leading from the Tri-County Chrysler dealer in Heath to Buckeye Lake's KOA Campground. Groseclose revealed the campground was full for the entire night, with people entering and leaving to visit food trucks and listen to live music.

The Licking County Visitor's Bureau's Carol Thress said it is vital that the Supercruise be safe and fun for residents and visitors, since it can bring in as much as $7m to the county. However, Thress was not sure if the new route would be used again in future years.

Supercruise organizers might consider building on this year's success by working with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for area residents, describing the cruise and asking them to save the date of next year's event.
